Getting to Dubai

Dubai by Air

The main method to get into Dubai is by plane. The Dubai Airport (DXB) is the 17th largest in the world and accepts flights from numerous airlines. The Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) also takes in flights for Dubai as the Dubai airport may struggle keeping up with demand. The Sharjah Airport is close to Dubai. Taxi fares costs around AED 50.00 ($13.00) and is only 30 minutes away from Dubai's center.

The United Arab Emirates has two airlines offering comprehensive services to and from Dubai. The first is the Etihad Airways www.etihadairways.com, and the second is the Emirates Airline www.emirates.com.


Departure Tax: There is no departure tax to be paid when leaving Dubai.


Dubai by Land

By Car

Dubai's has one road with Oman at Al Wajajah. Visitors of Oman do not need a permit to exit Oman on their way to Dubai. A charge of OMR 3.000 per vehicle is required to exit Oman, and if you are returning, keep the receipt because it is needed for reentry. Make sure to purchase auto insurance for driving in the UAE before starting your journey.


By Service Taxi

You can take a shared (long distance) Service taxi that shuttles you between Dubai and any other emirate in the UAE. The fare is inexpensive. One condition arise if you use this form of transportation: All 5 seats in the taxi have to be filled prior to moving.


By Bus

You can have an inexpensive and some what luxurious bus ride between Dubai and any other emirate in the UAE. As an example, a ride from Abu Dhabi to Dubai by Emirates Express Busses costs AED 15 ($4).

Dubai by Sea

Getting to Dubai by sea is rare except if you are departing from Iran or another Emirate. Sailing Vessels, and hydrofoils are used for pleasure cruising in the Dubai Creek.

Visas to Dubai

Visit visas are issued to visitors staying over 30 days in the United Arab Emirates.


Nationals from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar & Saudi Arabia enter without a visa.


The following list contains countries that do not need a visa to enter the UAE upon arrival at the Dubai airport if the stay is less than 30 days:


United States, UK, France, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Ireland, Portugal, Cyprus, Finland, Malta, Greece, Spain, Monaco, Iceland, Andorra, San Marino, Vatican, Liechtenstein, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Health Requirements to Enter Dubai

No prior health checkup or vaccinations are needed to enter Dubai.
